Matchmaking For Change

This week’s blog is by Kelleher International’s Director of Matchmaking, Kimberly Colgate.

I had the amazing opportunity to accompany Kelleher’s CEO, Amber Kelleher-Andrews, to the Asian World Film Festival for the opening night of Love Sonia. Amber was involved with the film’s production. Learn more about in this previous KI blog post.

It was a very moving and powerful night. It highlighted for me the amazing behind the scenes work Amber does that takes matchmaking to a whole other level. As matchmakers, we focus in on clients, matching, and keeping our systems organized. In our day-to-day moments it’s easy to lose sight of the bigger picture unfolding. But my experience at the Love Sonia opening reinforced the power of our platform to create positive change with our matchmaking skill sets.

Through her Kelleher connections, Amber was able to help fund a film that brings awareness to the global issue of sex trafficking. It was a very proud moment for me to see firsthand the power and influence these connections and relationships can make that go beyond a first date.

Three of our Kelleher International clients contributed to the funding of the film. Without their involvement, the film wouldn’t have the strong launch it needed. So much goes into capturing the necessary attention and press to raise awareness of a film’s existence. And even more significant, the devastating realities of sex trafficking.

It was a real joy to see Amber in her element at the Love Sonia opening, making connections with people and working a room with grace and beauty. Truly impressive!

While Amber was the facilitator of the connection, many of our Kelleher matchmakers played a role in creating opportunities that manifested this greater good. While I get giddy thinking about two people finding love, I also feel very honored to be part of an organization that is reaching people on a global level and changing the world. This is what it is all about for me and why I’m proud to be Director of Matchmaking for Kelleher International.

We hope for a Golden Globe nomination and big screen debut for Love Sonia, so fingers crossed! Regardless, I hope you get a chance to see Love Sonia. It puts into perspective how modern-day slavery exists and facilitates a greater conversation that needs to be had in this country and around the world.

Whether you’re looking for love or a social justice partner consider our Kelleher Matchmaking services. We’ll get you ready to meet your match in life, love, and the pursuit of the greater good.
