New Year | Clean Slate

Each New Year provides a beautifully clean slate for each of us. What are you going to do with yours this time around?

“I love the hope and possibility that goes hand-in-hand with the start of a new year,” explains Amber Kelleher-Andrews, Kelleher International CEO. “It’s a perfect opportunity to let go of what’s not working and get excited about the clean slate before you. You can go anywhere from here.”

If finding love in 2020 sits at the top of your wish list we’ve got a few suggestions to help you reset your mind and open your heart to relationship success.

One of the most critical first steps to finding your match is loving yourself and feeling good in your own skin.

No matter your body type, owning who you are and liking yourself is a magnetic quality. On the flipside, not practicing self-love also shines through and gets in the way – so right now is the time to do something about it.

Kelleher Matchmaker Nahla Grafer suggests finding a wellness regimen that not only yields results but also feels good doing. Maybe it’s daily walking around your neighborhood or dancing your booty off for fifteen minutes a day in your living room or taking that high-energy Zumba class that makes you laugh as much as you sweat. “If you move your body in a way that feels good to you the results are inevitable. Being our best self is a compilation of mind, body, and soul in harmony so whatever you can do to nurture all three of those things simultaneously is a win,” she explains. “Doing what you love and loving what you do makes you a magnet to the right people who share your energy and alignment.”

Once you’re feeling the flow of self-love, the next best thing you can do to attract your mate is to get happy with exactly where you are in your life and make plans to do more of what brings you joy.

Don’t wait for your perfect partner to show up – get out there and start living. Nahla raves, “Get happy in the anticipation and excitement of attracting your match. Adopt a playfulness around love – don’t be so serious about it. Develop a regular meditation or visualization practice where you focus on how you want to feel. Make time for fun with friends and family. Plan a trip! Get out of your comfort zone and let yourself be inspired to do new things. Anything is possible when you say “YES!” Believe in your bones that “yes” will lead to miracles and more of what you want.”

A final and important tip for taking advantage of the clean slate of the New Year is to work on staying present.

Kelleher’s CEO Club Matchmaker Patty Russell believes the best way to be your best self is to be in the moment. “It’s a brand new year so let go of old, negative beliefs and relationships that aren’t serving you or getting you closer to what you want. Do not let the past manipulate your future.”

Her advice? When you have a date with someone new, really focus in on that person – don’t judge them based on your past experiences or assume you know where things will go because they remind you of a previous love interest.

Patty gives an example, “I worked with a 38-year-old client that refused to go out with anyone with children.  She’d experienced a lot of drama in her previous relationship surrounding the ex-wife and child custody issues. It took a while to convince her that some people have great situations with their custody arrangements and not to judge everyone based on a singular experience. She finally conceded and said ‘yes’ to dating a new man with children. Things are going swimmingly! This gentleman could be the love of her life; she just had to say yes and put herself out there.”
