We’re living in radical times, and it calls for acts of radical collaboration.
So many of us are grappling with doing familiar things in new ways – and in close quarters with our families. We’re painstakingly maintaining boundaries in hopes of doing our part to flatten the curve of the Coronavirus spread. But for many singles, these same old-new experiences are happening in isolation.
The national shelter-in-place directive was extended thirty more days by President Trump. It’s time to pivot if what you’re currently doing doesn’t make you feel good. As a wife, mother, and the CEO of Kelleher International, I’ve had to stop and contemplate how I can make this work best for not only me but also my marriage, my family, my business, and our community.
One month ago, I was co-hosting the Success to Significance leadership retreat on Necker Island with Richard Branson and Virgin Unite. This annual event attracts such a fantastic group from our Kelleher International client network. And radical collaboration was the resounding message this year.
Radical Cooperation
I had the opportunity to do a deep dive with our clientele. And I felt love and camaraderie with these individuals to make the world a better, more inclusive place.
We practiced vulnerability as a unit and were allowed a peek at each others’ souls. The compassion and desire to make a difference, not just in the world but for each other, was inspirational. And a reminder that with so much uncertainty and “bad” in the world, there is so much more light.
What we’re doing now with social distancing, is an act of radical cooperation rooted in love for the betterment of our global community.
By focusing on radical collaboration at the retreat, we motivated each other to do even more good in the world. It was thrilling to see people moving forward on projects before they left the island.
Radical collaboration.
Topeka K. Sam, a formerly incarcerated activist, founder, and executive director of The Ladies of Hope Ministries, joined us at the Success to Significance retreat. The LOHM’s mission is to help disenfranchised and marginalized women and girls transition back into society after prison. LOHM procures and provides resources and access to high-quality education, entrepreneurship, spiritual empowerment, advocacy, and housing.
Topeka is a smart and daring woman who got mixed up in white-collar drug smuggling. She went to jail and uncovered the abuse of women in the criminal justice system. Now, as a free woman, she helps other women work through the system and find peace and success on the other side.
Topeka’s mission and “why” sparked radical collaboration amongst our group within 48-hours. Inspired participants created a board of directors and began fundraising plans. Each individual brought their unique skill set to the community. Together, they rethought solutions to the existing problems inside our criminal justice system. And Topeka’s passion and voice sparked this all into action.
Radical collaboration motivates and empowers teams and couples.
And that magnetic energy builds trust and cooperation. Plus it inspires creativity. And ultimately, radical collaboration leads to success and significance in every area of your life where you practice it.
Radical Examination.
I think Tim Tebow is one of the best speakers I’ve ever listened to and an unbelievably amazing human being. He, too, joined us at the Success to Significance retreat.
Tim is genuine, charismatic, and so passionate to serve children in need. The Tim Tebow Foundation exists to bring faith, hope, and love to those needing a brighter day in their darkest hour of need.
My favorite is the Night to Shine worldwide event honoring people with special needs. Tim’s light shines so brightly, and he’s gifted at showing others how to discover and celebrate theirs.
In these days of uncertainty, so many people are experiencing loss, grief, and aloneness in what feels like their darkest hour. How might you shine your light and love their direction?
Right now, I believe we are being called on for radical examination – of self, our calling, our relationships, and the community. Shine your light but don’t be afraid to face your shadows during the slowdown. It’s going to make you a better partner, lover, friend, and family member. Radical examination through the lens of love is the path to conscious relationships.
Radical Honesty.
Conscious relationships require radical honesty – delivering raw truth wrapped in love. Ideally, we meet each other where we are without crossing boundaries that diminish either of us. Radical honesty is loving us all equally.
As a matchmaker, radical honesty is the best gift I can give my clients.
It’s not always easy, but any message delivered with love can be handled. That’s the power of love.
And speaking of radical honesty, I genuinely believe we have the best people in the world in our network. There’s something extraordinary about the individuals attracted to the Kelleher brand. And this latest Success to Significant retreat reaffirmed it for me.
On the last day of the retreat, Ne-Yo, the Grammy Award-winning singer, got up to share about his experience. Ne-Yo was such a gracious guest. He dove into every activity with kindness, self-awareness, and inclusiveness.
Ne-Yo pointed out that there are people in the world who are visionaries. And there are people in the world who are doers. But what he experienced on Necker, was the rarity of a group of people deeply rooted as both. And I couldn’t agree more.
In these radical times, I am filled with faith, hope, and love for us all. If you’d like to collaborate with Kelleher International, we use our matchmaking skills for both love and philanthropy. Give us a call.
Xoxo, Amber
